In college, we were required to wear a uniform on Mondays to Thursdays. On Fridays, we were free to wear anything we want, it's called our "Wash Day". I think some schools practice the same too even until today. There were just those days when you just pick whatever it was in your closet, pulled out the one you thought was okay enough for the last school day of the week and when you got to the campus, you were foolishly smiling at your friend because you both were wearing the same shade of blue! Ay! Naka blue ka rin!
When I joined the work force after I graduated, I had experienced the same thing more than once. We also had Friday as wash day in the corporate world. I was happy because I got to wear sneakers, t-shirt and jeans after four days of wearing collared tops and boring black or brown slacks. In my observation, the probability of having the "color of the day" was greater since most people in the office would rather wear the basic colors, if the company does not have an office uniform. The very first person I would love to greet in the morning are those who wear clothes with the same color. I would greet them "happy birthday" if they're wearing red even though for sure it wasn't their birthday! Then it turned out that at least one in three people wore red that day! Nice! :)
What inspired this post, by the way? Well, I was just looking through an old file of pictures and I saw this:
Me is the first girl from the left, here's one Friday at the office |
