Ask my parents, siblings, childhood friends and you will find out I'm the school-home-school or work-home-supermarket-work-home-supermarket type of person. I was certified true blue homebody.
Tuesday morning, August 20, while the heavy rains were pounding the grounds and roofs of all the houses in Luzon, my sole was itching as if it had a life of it's own and glaring at me with "let's go out I could not stand being inside the walls of this home". I had battled with it with these words in mind "Hey feet, are you claustrophobic? With the bad weather you want to go out, if you want to get some leptospirosis, well I don't!"
To cut the long conversation short, the feet won and I've gladly accepted defeat. I agreed with the feet, I could not stand an entire day at home. I need to see the daylight even if the sun would not shine and the rain that bad. So I asked my husband if we could go to the mall (there's one about a kilometer away) because I need to pay my credit card bill and told him that it was due that day even though the truth is it will be due on 27th. He did not protest, being the lakwatsero himself, he said yes, nanginginig pa!
So we went to the mall, looking like two members from a
basketball team (because of the jacket we were wearing) who sneaked out for a
date sharing one big umbrella walking down the watery roads of Purok
Maligaya. We shouted several times at
the kids playing in the rain to threat them not to run and jump on the dirty
waters but the kids seemed oblivious of our presence so we got a little wet.
I figured the mall was most beautiful when it’s deserted,
and the wifi connection was just so amazing. We roamed around the small mall, I
went to National Book Store and discovered Tagalog versions of Hunger Games,
Bared To You and some Daniel Steele’s. I looked more if there’s Fifty Shades,
but there was none. I just curious what it would be like in Tagalog. Curiosity kills the cat, but not humans so
spoil your curiosity!
The trip to the mall was short, and though we were confident
that our place was safe from flood we decided it was best to go home. I realized
it was not fair while the people whose homes have been flooded we were at the
mall killing time and boredom.
It’s now Friday and the weekend is going to be long. I don’t
like what I’m feeling right now, my body temp feels hotter than the normal and
sticky fluid comes out of my nose. Two family members just had flu, my husband
woke me up last night with his loud sneezing, and I’m afraid I’d be next. No.
No way. Not today. Not today when tomorrow is the Mommy Fleur Day.
Get well soon Mare..I don't know, if I can go tomorrow either, nakakahiya tuloy bigla. but will try me best pa rin.
