Where Were You When F4 Was Popular

It's lunch break here in office. An earplug is stuck in my ear (of course!) listening to RX 93.1, it's Wednesday, the day of the week when this station plays songs from the 80's, 90's and early 2000.  Yes, I know I'm old I love listening songs from my generation, you need not to remind me! :) So back to my title, where was I when the Taiwanese boyband F4 was huge here in our country. It just popped in my mind when their song "Oh baby baby baby..."  (no, not the Justin Bieber song, F4 nga eh!) Can't Lose You is currently being played. It brings back a lot of memories....

So their fame started (at least in the Philippines) in that Chinovela Meteor Garden, and boy I was a huge fan! Those were the days when I was job hunting, lonely because I failed the board exam, and slightly depressed because finding job was a bit of a challenge.  The show was my anti-depressant pill.

Among the four boys, I thought that Dao Ming Si was the cutest. I was not that into meztisos or chinese looking guys. Dao was tall, dark and ruggedly handsome, except for the small eyes, he was my F4 crush back then. Two of these guys spoke English, Ken who lived in Singapore and Vaness from Hongkong. Sorry I forgot a lot of those things about the guys, it's been, what, ten years?!

They were so popular that they visited Manila several times, held concerts here, endorsed products and many others. Well, I was a fan of Meteor Garden but I did not really went fangirling over the boyband. The last and only boyband that I went gaga with was the Backstreetboys when I was in high school. Yay! My age!

On the other hand, the girl, Barbie Xu who played the lead role left me a lot of thinking when I found out that her age that time was 25! She looked 16 to me! I was jealous because I was twenty two that time and looked way older. Then my cousin who worked in Taiwan told me that, it's (one) in their genes, and (two) about what they eat. Okay, enough said!

So where was I when Filipinos were fangirling over F4? I was mending my broken pride and finding ways to defy my age at 22!

Tapos nagkaron ako ng meteor garden craze mag-isa nung binigyan ako ng dvd ng batchmate ko, tapos wala nang nakakarelate sakin. hahaha.
